Day 6, in Budapest, Thursday

In 1873, the twin cities of Buda and Pest joined with ancient Obuda to form a new, unified city, Budapest. Charming and beautiful, the city was declared a World Heritage site in 1987. Your morning sightseeing tour includes views of all the main attractions: The Parliament, Royal Palace, and the Castle Hill area, Fisherman’s Bastion, Matthias Church, Heroes’ Square, and Gellert Hill with its Citadel. The rest of the day is at leisure to explore this exciting city on your own. Tonight, enjoy dinner with entertainment in a typical Csarda restaurant.  (B, D)

Enjoy the breathtaking scenery of this natural wonder with its 16 terraced lakes surrounded by forested mountains and lush vegetation. A walking tour takes you around several of the lower lakes. On to Split and the port to embark on your boat. Later, gather with your fellow “sailors” for a Welcome Reception on board. (B, WR)

Day 9, Split – Bol – Stari Grad, Sunday

Morning guided a walking tour of Split shows us the historic inner city, built around the Roman Emperor Diocletian’s Palace, a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site. See the remnants of Split’s Roman heritage, it’s Renaissance and Gothic structures, Jupiter’s Temple, the Peristyle, and the Cathedral. Set sail towards Bol, a small town on Island Brac, for a swim at the Golden Horn. Enjoy the 1740-foot-long golden pebble beach, said to be the best in Croatia. It is unique in that it changes shape and position depending on the winds. Afterwards head to Hvar, one of the most popular islands in the Adriatic and a meeting point for the international jet-set. The “Croatian Madeira” is also one of the longest islands stretching along the shores of Croatia. Spend evening and night at Stari Grad, one of the oldest towns in Europe. (B, L)

Day 10, Stari Grad – Hvar – Vis, Monday

Quick sail towards town of Hvar for a sightseeing tour featuring the first public theatre in Europe (older than Shakespeare’s theatre in the UK), the Franciscan Monastery and many more historical sights. Cruise towards the Island of Vis. The town Vis, the antique Issa, was founded around 397 B.C. Our tour of Vis features the town’s waterfront. Evening at leisure.  (B, L)

Day 11, Vis – Vela Luka, Tuesday

After breakfast set sail for Korcula Island, thought to be the birthplace of the famous explorer Marco Polo. Our port of call for the day is Vela Luka (the “big harbor”) town, dating back to pre-historic times. After lunch onboard, disembark in Vela Luka and depart for an afternoon ‘Korcula island tour’, featuring the visit of the olive oil factory, Barilo ethno museum, and local winery to taste some local wine and cheese. Return to your ship, for an evening at leisure. (B, L)

Your evening is free to discover the town and enjoy dinner on your own at one of many local restaurants. (B, L)

Day 13, Korcula – Mljet, Thursday

Today we set sail for Mljet Island. Mljet National Park encompasses five types of forest, many species of birds, and two deep lakes, Veliko Jezero (Big Lake) and Malo Jezero (Small Lake). This lovely island was supposedly a favorite holiday spot for the Greek hero Ulysses! Captain’s dinner with live entertainment aboard our ship tonight. (B, L, D)

Day 14, Mljet – Dubrovnik, Friday

In the morning sail to Dubrovnik, so-called “Pearl of the Adriatic”, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
